Further to the Reach registration and the new data available on the toxicity of the pigments, the classfication of all the chromates L203E, CZ20, TC20 and M20 has been updated.
Besides the updated classification and labelling of the pigment, the dangerous goods transportation conditions are affected. UN number, name and substance description, class, packing group and labels of Strontium chromate L203E, Zinc tetraoxychromate TC20 and Zinc chromate CZ20 will be:
UN3288, TOXIC SOLID, INORGANIC, N.O.S. (SUBSTANCE NAME), 6.1, PGII MARINE POLLUTANT/ENVIRONMENTALLY HAZARDOUS.
The classification update may modify the formulation (mixture) classifications of the paint manufacturers and consequently the labels and dangerous goods transportation rules may be modified too.
In some countries, depending on national regulations, you may need to consider whether this updated classification impacts the legal rules applicable to your plant and facilities like: storage, quantity, production conditions…
